Will this drizzle ever stop?!?

As with all Scotland hiking club trips, there is a certain degree of uncertainty as to what people want to do, people don’t make decisions until a leisurely hour in the morning, this means often that plans are wrecked due to unpredictable transport provision. In the end though the trip I wanted to do was decided upon. The group number was large and the weather looked gloomy, though the group seemed keen despite the weather.

We got up to the first summit in one and a half hours, quite quick for the group size. Phil E moaned at us for being too far ahead at the top, saying we would get lost, despite numerous people being present at regular intervals with map & compass.

Progress over the ridge was quick though no views on the summits. The descent down to the glen was quick down a 35o scree slope, not my favourite ground and certainly wasn’t a wise thing with the large group size. We finished at dusk and it was a good achievement for the distance done.

The return of the sun!

The day fared better with new snow on the summits as I lead a smaller group of five. The weather was cloudy at first but picked up later on. I was knackered after yesterdays efforts though one person (I forgot his name) was supercharged and raced off ahead leaving me in the wake of the dust kicked up! The snow made the going slower than usual though the whole route was completed by 3.00pm, back at Manchester super quick at 8.00pm.
