Peak Bagging Guide Books for Norway

A peak bagging book describing peaks in 5 areas: West Jotunheimen, Rondane, Dovrefjell, Skjakfjella & Jostedalsbreen. The book is reasonably well illustrated and a reasonable amount of detail. The book size is pretty small with a face area the size of an Outdoor Leisure 1:25000 map. The advertised price is 373DKr at Nordisk Korthandel.

One book in a series of three on hiking and in particular peak bagging in Jotunheimen. The book has plenty of very good pictures for this area as well as plenty of detail. The book size is the same as the previously mentioned book and also pretty thin. The price in Nordisk Korthandel is 369 Dkr.

The second in the aforementioned series. The book size is slightly smaller and pocket sized. The advertised price is 255 DKr.

Exactly the same kind of book as those in the Jotunheimen series. The advertised price is 270 DKr

Gives a description of 40 peaks in southern Norway. The booksize is the similar to the SMC guidebooks and the advertised price is 332 DKr.

These two booklets list many of the peaks in the areas described. They come with general information about each area in Norway and detail about each peak varying from three lines to a long paragraph describing a route up. I was given these books by someone who went mountaineering up there. The booklets are very old (1953) and were produced when there were still a few unclimbed peaks in the area. They were also written in an age when hotel prices in Norway were the cheapest in Europe! I have been impressed by the comprehensiveness of the booklets and am quite sure that more up to date peak bagging books exist for the area

This booklet (much thicker) also has a strong emphasis on peak bagging. The format is very similar to the aforementioned booklets but covers the whole of Norway. There are a few pictures but hardly reaches saturation coverage. This booklet I have is also very old (1963).
